ORV Routes
ORV Routes - Are designated pathways on which ORV's of all sizes can operate. If you have a Secretary of State License plate you may operate there. If you do not, you must have an ORV Sticker.
The maintenance specification for routes is 72" on the ground and 72" in height. ATV's, Dirt Bikes, Dune Buggies, Go Carts, Argo's, Jeeps, etc. are all allowed to operate on designated routes within the system.
Most all Routes are currently designed as a "loop" system. This means that you can start and return to the same place without doubling back.
All Routes support two way traffic. Be alert for "on-coming" traffic. It is wise to drive with your headlights on as an added safety precaution,
even during the day!
The state of Michigan currently has over 3,100 miles of designated Trails and Routes on which ORV's may be operated. All of Michigan's Trails and Routes are currently maintained by volunteers, Not the DNR.
There are designated Trails and Routes in both the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula.
