Questions about Michigan ATV Association
Is MATVA a "Club"?
NO. MATVA is an "Associaiton". As an association, MATVA is focused on creating a positive future for Michigan's ATV enthusiasts. MATVA is an entity based on providing education programs that will help you get the most out of this sport. MATVA is proud to represent responsible enthusiasts to all levels of goverment.
Michigan needs more "ATV Clubs" that will focus on local issues, events, trail maintenance, etc. Consider developing an ATV "Club" that you, your friends and riding partners can be a part of. Without organization, it is difficult to be recognized and heard by thoes who make decisions that effect our sport.

What does MATVA do?
In 2000, MATVA was the first, private enterprize, to bring into Michigan, an ATV training program that actually fit the needs of our fellow citizens. Many folks have children, they are required to have training, and prior to 2000, found it nearly impossible to find training.
MATVA also works on legislative issues. In 2004, MATVA is working to introduce a bill that will make many needed changes and updates to the ORV law that will significantly bennifit us all. MATVA is working to remove the definition of an ATV from the current law. This will make all ORV's in Michigan the same. With this change, your 9 year old can be on the trails on their 90cc Quad.
MATVA is also working to change laws that will help law enforcement do their job, which will help preserve our priviladge to continue to operate our ORV's in Michigan and will hold accountable thoes who have a negative impact on our sport.
Additionally, MATVA is working to introduce legislation that will put more money into the ORV program to support more and better trails along with more availability of the required training program.
